My dad gave me his old cameras when I was in undergrad. He taught me how to use them, shared with me his stories and advice. Despite warnings and instruction, I accidentally tore my first roll, and it burned in the sun. This cautioned me to use care and intentionality. This medium has taught me new perspectives, particularly with composition and lighting, complimentary to my roots in writing and drawing.

My favorite part of the entire process is rediscovering moments I had captured (this implies that I put off developing/scanning as long as possible, and often don't see my photos until months after they were taken).
